Schwechtje Mihály


Mihály Schwechtje is a Hungarian film and theater director and university lecturer who has made several

award winning short films before making his first feature film. In 2020 he was awarded the

Contemporary Hungarian Drama Award (Kortárs Magyar Dráma-díj). In his recent projects he is

especially interested in our current society’s problems. His first feature film, Hope You’ll Die Next Time

☺, talks about the young victims of cyberbullying. The film was professionally and critically acclaimed and

amassed great audience success.

He is a university lecturer at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, having obtained a

degree of Doctor of Liberal Arts.

He is currently working on the development of his second feature film and working on the

pre-production of his next documentary, alongside starting the rehearsals for his new theater play at

Radnóti Theater.
